Your gift supports literacy programs serving people of all ages, including:

Nancy’s legacy reminds us that literacy isn’t just about reading — it’s about all aspects of literacy (reading, writing, listening, speaking, thinking) that lead to connection, confidence, curiosity, and community.

Thank you “from the bottom of our pigtails” as Nancy says for helping us celebrate 84 remarkable years — and for investing in literacy that lasts a lifetime.

About Nancy

Growing up as a little girl in Marquette, Michigan, Nancy never imagined the journey she would take and the number of people she would impact along the way. After graduating high school, she went to college to be a teacher and paved a path for young women in education and dedicated herself as an advocate for literacy. She later earned master’s and doctorate degrees and achieved many administrative and leadership roles in education.

Dr. Nancy Seminoff has served on several agency and non-profit boards at the international, national, state and local levels, including as Board Member of the International Reading Association (now ILA), National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) Appeals Committee, Michigan Association of State and Federal Program Specialists, and the Michigan Reading Association (Past President). She received the MRA Individual Literacy Award for 2017-2018. Prior to founding LLF Michigan, Dr. Seminoff served as a teacher, professor and administrator at the local school and university levels. Today, at 84 years young, she continues to encourage others to never stop learning with the help of the dedicated LLF Michigan Board, Advisory Group, administrative and communications support, community partners, donors, and volunteers.
